What makes a high performance team?
How can I bring the practices of high performance teams into my practice as an educator?
The answer is Educators’ Intensive….
We are a few local New York City educators, including a UFT Chapter Leader and a Charter School Leader, who began to discuss (in early 2009) how we thought teacher professional time – PD and regular team meetings – should look. We asked each other, “what would it take to have team meetings that we all anticipated and which actually supported me toward my professional goals?” or even “how can I really make a difference in my school’s outcomes and success?”
We landed on the authors of The Three Laws of Performance because of their outstanding success training organizations to become “high performance” teams in both the private and public sectors, and we had the bold idea of organizing a new training, customized for education and based on the Three Laws of Performance. Triform Consulting, a unique enterprise specializing in the Three Laws, will facilitate the training. We founded the non-profit “Educators’ Intensive” and are offering a 3-day professional development course following the 2011-2012 school year.
PD: Precious time wasted?
In too many schools today professional development is precious time wasted. To faculty, professional development does not help with issues that are important to their daily challenges; to administration, the staff do not fully own the strategies presented in the sessions, causing areas of poor student achievement to persist over time. Considering that schools are in the business of education, when they cannot function as an effective professional learning community, their mission is undermined and cynicism can dominate innovation.

…is that the Educators’ Intensive retreat for teacher teams will offer participants tools they need to effectively and appropriately take ownership of their team meetings and enjoy responsibility for their professional growth.

We are prepared to register teams of educators. The cost of registration is $500 per team member, with at least ten members per school. Please note that registration fees are used only to cover the cost of the course.
